About Me

Haniah Avery

First and foremost I am a child of God. This is an important influence on my life and on my writing themes.

Family is also an important aspect of my life and writing. I was an only child in a house of adults until the age of four and a half, when we went to China to adopt my first sister. Then, less three years later we went back to China to adopt my other sister. Thus our family was born. We do most things together.

What are these things? Well, I am a proud alumni of the KNYI Bible Quiz program. Now that I am graduated, I, sadly, cannot participate as a competitor. I still get to attend, though, as a content judge and scorekeeper. This is something that our whole family participates in. We also enjoy watching movies as a family, anything from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers to Harry Potter.

When I'm not spending time with my family, I'm reading, watching movies, writing, or crafting things related to those three things.

~ My Mission ~

Finding good books for kids can be hard for parents. Though I am not a parent myself, I know how hard it is for me to find something to read. As a Christian, I am more picky about what I read. It seems that most books coming out for children are wrong in one way or another. Maybe they have too much romance. Maybe they have too much content that you as a parent are not comfortable with your kids reading.

As a young writer, I noticed these problems and made it my mission to help. I try to tell stories that are not only appropriate for your kids to read, but also show friend and family relationships in a positive and healthy light. Though my stories sometimes deal with tougher topics like grief and loneliness, I try to do this in an age appropriate yet realistic way.

As of this writing, I do not have anything published. If you join my email list, however, you will receive a book review of my recommendations in my monthly newsletter.
